McNair Scholars Application

The Ronald E. McNair Post-Baccalaureate Achievement Program (McNair Scholars Program), is a federal TRIO initiative that equips high-achieving students from underprivileged communities for doctoral study.

Acceptance into the McNair Scholars Program is offered on a competitive basis. To qualify, an applicant must meet the following criteria:

1. Plan to pursue graduate school.
2. Have and maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA.
3. Meet federal low-income guidelines and be the first in your family to complete a bachelor's degree, OR belong to a group that is underrepresented in graduate school.
4. Be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.

After you have been accepted into the program, if you qualify based on income, you will be asked to provide a copy of your most recent income tax return OR a signed statement indicating federal low income status.
